AMBER

ORIGIN: Baltic Countries such as Lithuania, Poland, Russia. MILLA-JOs' amber was sourced directly from Lithuania (origin certified).

AMBER is an organic semi-precious gemstone formed from prehistoric pine trees resins common in the Baltics. It was formed from the resins of pine trees ~30 to 60 million years ago. It is found in a range of colour from white though yellow, red to brown to black, and also in blue and green.

  • Yellow Amber – The naturally transparent stone is amongst the most valued and highly popular varieties. They are mostly resourced from the Baltic region of Russia, Denmark, Latvia etc. Bubble inclusions are quite common in this type of amber. 
  • Red Amber – Red Amber stone is commonly addressed as ‘Cherry Amber’. This colour variety is admired for its delightful red hue. Cherry amber stones are rarely found in the market and are majorly used for making necklace and bracelets.
  • White Amber – This is another exclusive colour variety which is also addressed as 'Bony Amber' and is praised for its unique texture and royal colour. White Amber stones are studded in jewellery for designing one-of-a-kind pieces.
  • Black Amber – As the name depicts, this stone is a dark-coloured, opaque gem variety that are mostly packed with inclusions. It is said that Black amber healing properties help in body detoxification and offers resistance against infections and diseases.
  • Blue Amber – This is one of the rarest colour variety of Amber. It exclusively comes from the mines of Dominican Republic. This could be the reason why Dominican Blue Amber gemstones are valued very highly.
